Bhai Tika 2083 falls on Wednesday, 11 November 2026 (Kartik 25) — the fifth and final day of Tihar, when sisters place the seven-colour saptarangi tika on their brothers' foreheads. The single most-asked question every year is the sahit: the auspicious minute for the ceremony.
The official 2083 sahit — status
The Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Bikas Samiti announces the official Bhai Tika sahit only days before the festival, and the 2083 time had not been published at the time of writing. The pattern is reliable, though: the sahit was 11:39 AM in 2082 and 11:37 AM in 2081 — the committee has kept Bhai Tika in the late-morning Abhijit muhurta window for years, so expect a time near 11:30–11:45 AM Nepal Time. This page will be updated the moment the official time is announced.
Do you have to hit the exact minute?
No. The panchanga committee itself has clarified that the sibling tika can be given at any time during the day — the exact sahit matters most for formal state ceremonies. For a family at home, especially in the diaspora, doing the ceremony at a practical hour on the correct day is completely acceptable.
Bhai Tika time around the world
Two things change the clock overseas: the date can shift by a day where almanacs measure the tithi from local sunrise (some US and Canadian panchangas observe Bhai Tika on Tuesday 10 November), and the Nepal sahit converts differently per timezone. Converted from the expected ~11:30 AM NPT window:
• Nepal (Kathmandu): ~11:30–11:45 AM, Wednesday 11 November
• UK & Portugal (GMT/WET): ~5:45 AM — most families take a local morning or evening ceremony
• Germany / Central Europe (CET): ~6:45 AM
• UAE / Gulf (GST): ~9:45 AM
• Qatar (AST): ~8:45 AM
• Malaysia & Hong Kong (UTC+8): ~1:45 PM
• Thailand (ICT): ~12:45 PM
• South Korea (KST): ~2:45 PM
• Japan (JST): ~2:45 PM
• Australia East (AEDT): ~4:45 PM
• New Zealand (NZDT): ~6:45 PM — the only country where the Nepal sahit conveniently lands in the evening
• US/Canada East (EST): ~12:45 AM on 11 November — effectively the previous night, which is part of why North American families follow their local panchanga date
Laxmi Puja timing — the simpler rule
Laxmi Puja is performed at your own local sunset on Sunday, 8 November (the Pradosh Kaal window, roughly the 45 minutes after sunset) — no conversion needed, just the evening lamps at dusk wherever you are. Sunday timing means most diaspora families get the full ceremony this year.
