Few acts bridge Nepal's generations like Nepathya. Fronted by Amrit Gurung since the early 1990s, the band fused Himalayan folk melodies with rock instrumentation long before "world music" was a category — and in the process became the most-toured Nepali act in history, carrying songs about migration, mountains and home to diaspora audiences across five continents.

The sound

Nepathya's catalogue runs from folk-rooted anthems to socially conscious ballads — the songs that play at community functions from Kathmandu to Kentucky. Amrit Gurung's lyrics about the Nepali experience — leaving, missing, returning — land hardest in diaspora rooms, which is why their overseas tours remain the community's biggest concert draws.

In Australia

The December 2026 run brings Nepathya to Adelaide (Dec 7) and Perth (Dec 27), with the tour announcement carrying the full details. Past Australian tours have sold out theatres across Sydney and Melbourne — expect the December dates to follow.
