PBWA Leading the Vision for Australia’s First Nepalese Temple in Perth

Pashupatinath Bouddhanath Western Australia (PBWA) is one of the most active Nepalese community organizations in Western Australia and is widely recognized as the first organization to initiate the vision of building a dedicated Nepalese temple for the Nepalese diaspora in Australia.

Before PBWA began this initiative, there was no organized concept of establishing a Nepalese temple in any Australian state or territory. The organization's vision has inspired Nepalese communities across Australia, with similar temple initiatives now emerging in other states.

The proposed temple site is located at 4 Keays Road, Kelmscott WA 6111. PBWA has already secured the land for the project after raising more than $1.3 million through community support and fundraising efforts. The organization has also received $500,000 in government funding to support the development and continues to apply for additional grants to help bring the project to completion.

When first planned, the temple development was valued at around $4 million. However, with increasing construction costs and inflation, the total project cost is expected to be significantly higher than the original estimate.

To fund the project, PBWA regularly organizes religious and community events throughout the year. Bhajan and Kirtan programs, charity dinners, and community fundraising activities have played a major role in supporting the initiative. The organization is also planning larger fundraising events, including a Shrimad Bhagwat Puran Mahayagya, to help raise the remaining funds needed to build the temple.

With strong support from volunteers, donors, and the wider Nepalese community, PBWA continues to work toward creating a permanent spiritual and cultural landmark that will serve future generations of Nepalese Australians.
