The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has announced an immediate assistance package of Rs 50 million for the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of families affected by the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi river in Rasuwa district.

The decision was taken at an emergency virtual meeting on Wednesday, chaired by NRNA President Dr. Hemraj Sharma, following the flash flood that has killed 157+ people and left over 400 missing.

Relief Committees Formed

The NRNA has formed four committees to coordinate the relief effort:

The association has also decided to immediately deploy medical and volunteer teams to the affected areas.

NRNA has instructed its National Coordination Councils (NCCs) in all countries to establish committees and mobilise financial support for the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of Rasuwa flood victims.

Call for Unity

"The Nepalis living abroad need collective support and solidarity in this difficult time of disaster," said General Secretary Dr. Chiranjibi Khadka. NRNA President Dr. Sharma stated that the association would actively work for both immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation of the flood-affected communities.

The NRNA has appealed to all Nepalis at home and abroad to unite and get involved in humanitarian assistance. The association said it is ready to work with the Government of Nepal through official government mechanisms for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation.
