One of the year's biggest Nepali ensemble films is working its way through international markets: Jhingedaau 2, director Gyanendra Deuja's sequel, is in its overseas rollout following the Nepal release — and Canadian screens are among the markets the film is reaching this cycle.
The film
The sequel follows two brothers searching for their missing mother — a premise that lets it run the family-drama registers the first film established: sibling rivalry, humour, nostalgia and the particular comedy of a family pulled apart and back together. The ensemble is the draw: Keki Adhikari, Aanchal Sharma, Mahesh Tripathi, Kushal Bista and Aryan Sigdel, with veteran Madan Krishna Shrestha — one of the true legends of Nepali screen comedy — in the cast. The combination of a proven franchise, that cast list, and Deuja's direction is what made the original's sequel one of the most anticipated titles of the 2026 slate, per NS Cinemas' listing.
The Canada picture
Canadian showtimes for mid-size Nepali titles get confirmed close to release — the multiplex circuit books short windows and listings move week to week. The honest status: the film is in its international rollout, Canadian dates are expected through the same Cineplex/South Asian circuit carrying Acharya now and Baa: Ek Yoddha on October 15, and we'll update the Canada movies guide the moment confirmed listings appear.
Why this one travels well
Ensemble family comedies are the genre that plays best to diaspora audiences — broad enough for the whole family outing, rooted enough in the culture to feel like home viewing. Add Madan Krishna Shrestha to a sequel already carrying five leads and you have the closest thing to a multigenerational event film this cycle — grandparents for the legend, everyone else for the ensemble.
