Greece's growing Nepali community marks Tihar in early November. Tihar 2026 in Greece runs Saturday 7 November to Wednesday 11 November, with Laxmi Puja on Sunday 8 November and Bhai Tika on Wednesday 11 November.
Greece Tihar 2026 dates
• Kag Tihar: Saturday, 7 November
• Kukur Tihar & Laxmi Puja: Sunday, 8 November — puja at local sunset
• Gai Tihar: Monday, 9 November
• Govardhan Puja / Mha Puja: Tuesday, 10 November
• Bhai Tika: Wednesday, 11 November (Kartik 25, 2083)
Greece runs 3 hours 45 minutes behind Nepal (EET), so a late-morning sahit in Kathmandu lands around 7:45 AM in Athens — the worldwide Bhai Tika sahit er carries the official 2083 time with local conversions, and Nepal–Athens time shows the live offset.
The community
Greece's Nepali population has grown steadily through the last decade, concentrating in Athens — where community associations organise the festival calendar — with smaller groups across the mainland and islands' service corridors. The community's Tihar observance combines the association's main programme with family ceremonies at home; with Bhai Tika on a Wednesday, expect the sibling ceremony kept on the day itself and any community gathering shifted to the weekend of 7–8 November.
