Croatia's Nepali community — among the EU's newest — celebrates Tihar in early November. Tihar 2026 in Croatia runs Saturday 7 November to Wednesday 11 November, with Laxmi Puja on Sunday 8 November and Bhai Tika on Wednesday 11 November.
Croatia Tihar 2026 dates
• Kag Tihar: Saturday, 7 November
• Kukur Tihar & Laxmi Puja: Sunday, 8 November — puja at local sunset
• Gai Tihar: Monday, 9 November
• Govardhan Puja / Mha Puja: Tuesday, 10 November
• Bhai Tika: Wednesday, 11 November (Kartik 25, 2083)
Croatia runs 4 hours 45 minutes behind Nepal (CET), so a late-morning Kathmandu sahit lands around 6:45 AM in Zagreb — the worldwide Bhai Tika sahit er carries the official 2083 time with local conversions, and Nepal–Zagreb time shows the live offset.
A fast-growing community
Croatia's Nepali population has expanded quickly in recent years as the country's tourism and service sectors drew Nepali workers — Zagreb holds the largest cluster, with communities along the Adriatic coast's hospitality corridor. For a young diaspora, festival organisation tends to run through informal community groups and social channels rather than long-registered associations: expect Deusi Bhailo gatherings and a shared Tihar programme on the 7–8 November weekend, with Bhai Tika kept on Wednesday itself.
For festival remittances, the EUR–NPR rate is on the exchange page. Updates land on the Croatia desk and /world/hr.
