Nepali Catering Menu Ideas for Every Event Type

A well-built catering menu balances starters, mains, breads or rice, condiments and dessert — matched to how guests will actually eat. Use these structures as a starting point when requesting quotes through the Nepali catering directory.

Wedding reception buffet

Two or three starters (momo, choila, sekuwa), a main spread with two meat curries, dal, two vegetable dishes, rice and bread, achar selection, and kheer or gulab jamun. Add a late-night snack option if the reception runs long.

Ceremony and ritual events

Pasni, bratabandha and puja gatherings often call for a simpler vegetarian-led menu: bara or pakoda starters, dal bhat, seasonal tarkari, breads, fruit and a traditional sweet. Confirm ritual requirements with your pandit first — see our pasni and bratabandha guides.

Casual parties

Momo platters as the centrepiece, plus chips, pakoda, one curry with rice for hungrier guests, and a dessert tray. Easier to serve, easier to eat standing.

Corporate and mixed audiences

Labelled dishes with spice levels, a mild curry alongside full-spice options, clear vegetarian and allergen marking, and individual portions where timing is tight.

Desserts and drinks

Sel roti, kheer, gulab jamun, yomari and fresh fruit cover most tastes. Masala chai service after the meal is a small touch guests remember.
