The Nepalese Community Association of Ottawa (NCAO) is holding its annual Dashain/Tihar Celebration on Sunday, October 11, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The event is one of the main Nepali community gatherings in Canada’s capital and is aimed at families, students and professionals in the Ottawa–Gatineau area.

The evening combines cultural performances — traditional music, dance and sometimes a tika ceremony — with a community dinner and networking. It is organised by NCAO, which runs a year-round calendar of Nepali events including New Year celebrations, picnics, sports days and charity drives.

Ottawa’s Nepali community is smaller than Toronto’s but has been growing through immigration, student arrival and skilled-worker pathways. The NCAO event is one of the few occasions in the year when the whole community gathers in one place, making it especially valuable for newcomers who have not yet built a wide network.

Tickets and venue details are published on the NCAO events page. Because the association typically uses a community hall in central Ottawa, the event is accessible by public transport and has parking for those driving in from the suburbs.

For anyone looking for Nepali events Ottawa, Dashain Canada, Tihar Ottawa or Nepali community Gatineau, NCAO’s calendar is the most reliable of verified dates and venues. The association’s updates are also shared through its official Facebook page and WhatsApp community groups.
