Planning a function in Sydney

Start with your guest count, preferred date, seating style and event schedule. Ask each venue about room capacity, minimum spend, hire duration, accessibility, parking, public transport, sound limits and closing time. If you plan to serve Nepali food, confirm whether external catering is permitted or whether the venue provides an in-house menu. Weddings and cultural ceremonies may also need space for a mandap, puja setup, stage, dance floor or live musicians.

Venue information can change, so request a written quote and inspect the space before paying a deposit. Confirm what the price includes, such as tables, chairs, linen, cleaning, security, staff, audiovisual equipment and kitchen access. Also check cancellation terms, insurance requirements and rules for decorations. The listings above help you discover options; only the venue can confirm current availability, facilities and pricing for your event.

Shortlist at least two suitable spaces before making a final decision, and record the strengths, limitations and total quoted cost of each option.

Before the inspection, prepare a simple run sheet covering supplier arrival, guest entry, ceremonies, meals, speeches, entertainment and pack-down. Ask who will be present from the venue on the day and how unexpected changes are handled. If alcohol will be served, confirm licensing, responsible-service requirements and whether drinks must be purchased on site. These practical checks make it easier to compare venues on more than capacity alone.
