Albatross Set to Make History with Their Biggest Australia & New Zealand Tour Yet
For nearly three decades, Albatross has stood at the forefront of Nepal's alternative rock movement. From intimate club performances in Kathmandu to major international festivals, the band has built a loyal following that spans generations. Now, in 2026, the legendary four-piece is preparing to embark on what is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious tours ever undertaken by a Nepali rock band in Australia and New Zealand.
Branded as the "IBTIDAA Australia & New Zealand Tour 2026," the tour marks Albatross' first dedicated headline tour across both countries. The tour is being presented by Australian-d promoter BrizRocks, a company that has become well known for bringing leading Nepali artists to audiences across Australia.
A Tour Years in the Making
The announcement has generated significant excitement among Nepali communities living across Australia and New Zealand. Although Albatross has previously performed internationally, this is the band's first large-scale tour covering multiple cities throughout both countries under a single tour banner.
Founded in Kathmandu in 1998, Albatross has spent 28 years building one of the strongest legacies in Nepali rock music. Songs such as Khaseka Tara, Ma Ra Malai, Nischal, and many others have become timeless favourites among fans.
The band's current lineup features:
Shirish Dali – Lead Vocals & Rhythm Guitar
Sunny Manandhar – Lead Guitar
Avaya Siddhi Bajracharya – Bass
Kismat D. Shrestha – Drums
Eleven Cities Across Two Countries
According to the official tour website, the IBTIDAA Tour 2026 is planned as an 11-city tour covering Australia and New Zealand.
The announced tour route includes:
Auckland
Christchurch
Newcastle
Sydney
Canberra
Melbourne
Brisbane
Adelaide
Perth
Darwin
Hobart
While every destination has been listed as part of the tour, not every city has received a confirmed performance date. The organisers have stated that additional announcements will be released progressively as ticket sales and venue arrangements are finalised.
Sydney Leads the Tour Announcements
Sydney has become the first major city with a fully announced headline performance.
The concert is scheduled for 29 November 2026 at UNSW Roundhouse, one of Sydney's best-known live music venues.
Promoters describe the performance as a celebration of Albatross' 28-year musical journey, bringing together classic fan favourites alongside music connected to the "IBTIDAA" era. Ticket sales for the Sydney show have already begun through Moshtix.
Canberra Also Officially Confirmed
A second Australian show has now been officially confirmed in Canberra.
The concert will take place on 26 November 2026 at The ment Belconnen, presented by Busy Bee Entertainment. In addition to Albatross' headline performance, the event will also feature local Canberra-d artists and DJs, highlighting the growing collaboration between Nepali musicians and Australia's local entertainment scene.
Remaining Cities Await Dates
Although all eleven tour destinations have now been published by BrizRocks, most performances remain listed as "Date TBA."
At the time of publication, official dates have not yet been announced for:
Auckland
Christchurch
Newcastle
Melbourne
Brisbane
Adelaide
Perth
Darwin
Hobart
Fans are being encouraged to register through the official tour website for early ticket access and future announcements.
More Than Just a Concert Tour
Beyond the performances themselves, the IBTIDAA Tour represents another milestone for Nepali music on the international stage.
Over the last decade, Australia and New Zealand have become home to rapidly growing Nepali communities, creating increasing demand for large-scale live concerts featuring artists from Nepal. Promoters have responded by organising national tours for many leading musicians, and Albatross' upcoming tour continues that momentum.
For BrizRocks, the tour also reflects its broader mission of connecting Nepali artists with audiences across Australia through professionally produced national events.
What Fans Can Expect
Although the complete setlist has not been released, audiences can expect a mixture of Albatross' iconic classics alongside songs associated with the IBTIDAA project.
With nearly three decades of music behind them, fans are anticipating a nostalgic performance that bridges multiple generations of listeners while showcasing the band's signature alternative rock sound.
As additional dates continue to be announced throughout the coming months, the IBTIDAA Tour is expected to become one of the largest Australia–New Zealand tours ever undertaken by a Nepali rock band.
