Shree Panchami 2026 Australia — Events, Dates & Celebrations

Shree Panchami (Vasant Panchami) 2027 is February 11 — Saraswati Puja and children's first-letter ceremonies among Nepali Australians.

Shree Panchami — श्रीपञ्चमी, also called Vasant Panchami or Saraswati Puja — falls on the fifth day of the bright half of Magh, marking the arrival of spring. It is dedicated to Saraswati, goddess of learning, music and wisdom — books, instruments and pens are placed at her feet.

The festival's most touching tradition is akshararambha — the ceremony where children write their very first letters, often at Saraswati temples. In Australia, community schools and Nepali pathshalas run Saraswati Puja programs each year, and many families choose this day for their child's first formal writing.
