Naga Panchami 2026 Australia — Events, Dates & Celebrations

Naga Panchami 2027 is August 6 — the serpent-worship festival. Naga posters, milk offerings and traditions among Nepali Australians.

Naga Panchami — नाग पञ्चमी — falls on the fifth day of Shrawan's bright fortnight (July–August) and honours the nagas, the serpent deities who rule water and rain. On this day, printed posters or paintings of serpents are pasted above doorways, and offerings of milk, ghee and sweets are made — some families pour milk onto ant hills where serpents dwell.

The festival asks the nagas' protection for the household — from snakebite, flood and drought alike — and marks the heart of the monsoon season. In Australia it is a quiet home observance: the poster goes up over the door, the milk offering is made, and the tradition continues.
