Nepali cinema is in the middle of its busiest release window of the year, with three films launching on September 25, 2026, and a fourth major release already scheduled for Mangsir 17 (early December). For Nepali movie fans at home and abroad, the coming weeks offer a mix of action, family drama and social comedy.

Acharya is the most anticipated release. Directed by and starring Nikhil Upreti, it marks his return to directing after 11 years. The action drama earned 137 shows across Nepal at launch — the strongest opening of the three — and is being distributed internationally through Seven Seas International. Early overseas screenings are expected in Australia, the US and the Gulf within days of the Nepal release.

Ba: Ek Yoddha, directed by Hari Lamsal, is a family drama centred on a father’s struggle and sacrifice for his children and the neglect he faces in old age. The film stars Divya Dev in the father’s role and received strong audience response at premieres in Kathmandu, Nepalgunj, Dang, Dharan and Butwal. It is the strongest emotional story of the current slate.

Jadau is the social comedy entry, addressing inter-caste relationships, discrimination and oppression with a mix of humour and romance. Jointly directed by Anjan Sharma and Kaji Limbu, it stars Mukun Bhusal, Niti Shah, Prabhat Pal Thhakuri, Richa Sharma and Gita Adhikari. It received nationwide release on the same September 25 date.

The next major release is Chhattis Ko Akada, starring Rekha Thapa and directed by Sabir Shrestha. The film is scheduled for Mangsir 17 — roughly December 3, 2026 — and is already being promoted through Rekha’s production company and the BR Café launch events. The title suggests a social satire angle, and it will be one of the few big releases hitting Nepali theatres in early winter.

For audiences outside Nepal, international distributors normally announce screening cities through the official movie pages and local event partners. The best s for confirmed overseas showtimes are the official film pages on Ratopati, Lens Nepal and Parichaya, plus the platform’s own event listings.
