For the UK’s large and well-established Nepali community, October is shaping up to be one of the busiest festival months of 2026. London alone is hosting multiple Dashain events across different formats: a free cultural festival at the Whitechapel Gallery, a late-night celebration at Rave Lounge, and a three-date rock tour by The Axe.
Whitechapel Gallery on Whitechapel High Street is hosting a Dashain Festival Nepal event on Sunday, October 11. The gallery is one of London’s most respected public art spaces, and the event is free to attend, making it a good option for families and students. It is expected to feature performances, workshops and community stalls tied to the festival.
Later the same week, on Saturday, October 17, Rave Lounge in Hounslow is running Dashain Festival Vibes (Fulpati) — a night-time event starting at 10:00 PM with live singing and DJ sets. Tickets are around £15, and the event is aimed at the younger end of the market looking for a social Dashain night out.
The Harlow Nepalese Community is also holding its HNC Dashain Celebration on Saturday, October 17, at High Wych Memorial Hall in Essex. That event is more community-oriented, with member pricing, children’s entry and an afternoon-to-evening programme.
On the music side, rock band The Axe is touring the UK at the end of October: Greenwich Auditorium in London on October 28, Empire Hall in Aldershot on October 30 and Mill Hill School in London on October 31. The tour is being promoted by Dami Vibes and is aimed at the Nepali live-music audience that regularly fills venues such as Troxy, Rushmoor Arena and smaller community halls.
The pattern is the same as in Australia and the US: Dashain is not a single event but a season, and the UK’s Nepali organisations run overlapping celebrations in London, Aldershot, Folkestone, Portsmouth, Reading and surrounding towns. The best way to find a local event is through the Nepali Events UK portal and the belayat.uk Dashain guide.
Three formats, three audiences
What stands out in this year's UK calendar is the range of formats running in parallel. The Whitechapel Gallery booking is the institutional end — a free, daytime cultural event in a respected public art space that signals Nepali culture being programmed by mainstream London venues rather than only community halls. The Rave Lounge night is the social end — the ticketed, late-night format that serves the younger crowd. And Harlow's HNC celebration is the community end — member-priced, family-structured, run by a town-level association for its own people.
That three-tier structure is worth noticing because it mirrors how the British Nepali community actually works: settled enough to fill mainstream venues, young enough to sustain a nightlife circuit, and organised enough that district and town associations still run their own calendars. The Axe tour adds a fourth layer — a heritage rock band playing the same circuit as the community halls, closing the month at Mill Hill on Halloween weekend.
